Version 2.0.1

DotNetNuke Referral Tracking

The Referral Tracker module allows you to save URL variables, the referring page, and the previous page into a session variable or cookie. Then, the session variable or cookie can be used elsewhere on the site, like a form collection module.

Track Where Users Came From

One of the most common uses of this form is to use it along side of a module like Form Master or Data Spring’s Dynamic Form.  Using those form builders you can access cookie and session variables and have them saved with the form data.  Which means when website visitors fill out a contact form you can also save information generated by the Referral Tracker.  Imagine, when someone requests a quote you would see the previous website and page they were on before filling out the quote form.  Powerful information.

Save URL variables into Session and Cookies

Any variable in the URL can be saved to a cookie or session variable to be accessed later on another page or in a custom contact form such as Form Master.  How would this be helpful? Imagine you spend hundreds of dollars a month on Google PPC campaigns.  When you link a user back to your website you can add extra URL variables when you send them to your site from your Google Ad. For example instead of linking them directly to your homepage you could link them to: “dnnspot.com/?ppc=google ppc keyword ninjas”  that would then save that URL variable ppc into a session or cookie variable you could access later.
